Ah, the lowly warrior. Loved by some, hated by others. Here is a guide to get the most out of these little buggers.

HOW GOOD ARE NECRON WARRIORS
Statistically, very good. They have a high BS, a good weapon (with gauss), a high armour save, and fantastic toughness. They are quite expensive, at 18pts per warrior, but that is made up for by their stats. They have low initiative, so try to avoid CC at all costs. They work very well with a Veil Of Darkness, and can be used as a bodyguard unit for your lord. They work very well with Immortals. Fluff-Wise, they are robots and they're not perfected in a sense, so they're very slow in close combat. The Warrior is actually one of the best choices to take in an army. This Tactica Will hopefully show how good warriors actually are, and encourage people to take them.

Enough of my rambling, on with the Formations!

FORMATIONS

The Marching Flank

The most commonly used rank of warriors, as demonstrated below (using 12 Warriors, though the number varies):

WWWWWW                                          WW
WWWWWW                 OR                     WW
                                                             WW
                                                             WW
                                                             WW
WW (I don't know why the W's are so wonky)

This is a good, solid core. The warriors can maximise their Rapid Fire potential. This is a useful core, and you should always position at least one squad in The Marching Flank position.

*Nasty Trick: Equip the warriors with Disruption Fields. It allows them to reach their full assault potential, and works exceptionally well against vehicles.

>This Works Well In A: Destroyer Army or Wraith Wing, As it gives the army some well needed firepower.

Formation 2

The Tomb Spyder

Based off the Marching Flank

  W  W W W W

Models are placed 2'' apart to minimize ordnance. Courtesy Of Matt3524.

*Nasty Trick: Equip the warriors with Disruption Fields. It allows them to reach their full assault potential, and works exceptionally well against vehicles.

>This Works Well In A: Destroyer Army or Wraith Wing, As it gives the army some well needed firepower.

Formation 3

The Pyramid

Demonstrated Below With 15 Warriors

                          W
                        WW
                       WWW
                      WWWW
                     WWWWW

This technique is used to deny enemy assault potential. The only con being you can only use this with 10 or 15 warriors. This formation is one of the best at holding objectives: The enemy firepower and Assault is almost useless, with only the first, sometimes second, warrior(s) being in range.

*Nasty Trick: Hold terrain. Once they're there, they're there to stay.

>Works Well In: A game with objective capturing.

Formation 3:
We'll Be Back.
This Requires 2 lords on foot with Res. Orbs, and 10 warriors.

L WWWWWWWWWW L

This formation is used to maximise the WBB ability, using Resurrection Orbs. The Res. Orb allows warriors to get back up, even after being instant killed. This formation can easily be expanded by doing this:

                WWWWWWWWWW  L WWWWWWWWWW L WWWWWWWWWW

This works very well in an all-out charge situation: Run foward towards the enemy! The 3+ armour save, as well as guaranteed WBB, should cost the enemy the game.

*Nasty Trick: This formation is a nasty trick.

>Works well in: *Repeated From Above* This works very well in an all-out charge situation: Run foward towards the enemy! The 3+ armour save, as well as guaranteed WBB, should cost the enemy the game.

Formation 4
The Box

This requires 10 warriors.

                                  WWWW
                                  W      W
                                  WWWW

This is used to hold objectives. It negates most of enemy fire onto the first 4 warriors. This is probably the least used formation out of the 4.

*Nasty Trick: Hold an objective.

>Works Well In: Again, an objective capture.

SMALL POINTS TO BE RAISED:

-Disruption Fields.

Disruption fields are useless unless you are using your necrons as an assault orientated force. The points cost is cheap, but by fitting out a squad of 10, you could have added a second warrior, or another Scarab Swarm. So save the disruption fields, and ONLY use them on a squad of 10. Otherwise.... POINT SINK!

-Unit Sizes.

Alot of questions are raised regarding unit sizes. Is 12, 10 20 the ideal size? My answer: 15. Fifteen is the best size for a squad of warriors. Not overly big, not overly small, perfectly in between. It also allows you to use The Pyramid, The Marching Flank And any other flanks you want (except the WBB ones  Tongue)

- We'll Be Back.

Now this is the big question, and I hope the last two Formations helped explain a little bit.
How am i meant to utilize WBB to it's full potential? Should I sacrifice my warriors, only to have them stand back up? Should I treat them conservatively? No. Neither. use them like you would use a unit without WBB. It's just a little backup after the 3+, not necessarily a game winner.

CONCLUSION

So there you have it. The 4 best ways to utilise warriors, and a small (but hopefully detailed) FAQ. I hope this has taught you something, and that you use one of these in an upcoming battle. Any other Questions, feel free to send me a PM, and I'll add it to the FAQ.

Yay, this makes me a mod! No, wait
